A fun day

Today was great, I spent it with my 3 favorite people.
The boys tried on the new clothes I got them, complete with comic books.

Rex had his first soccer game and managed to kick the ball at least a couple of times in 40 minutes.

Sam tried on my winnings from agiveawayeveryday.blogspot.com, and rocked it!

Then we spent all afternoon relaxing at Lucky Peak, where Rex chased minnows...

Sam channeled Friar Tuck...

Mark relived his childhood castle building days in So. Cal...

and I did what I do best, relaxed and read a People magazine.

P.S. I also got this free booster seat for being one of the first 100 people to show up at A Baby Daily this morning! What a perfect day.

A 4 year olds view

Lately Rex has been a little sensitive and has said some funny and sweet things I want to record.
He is really sensitive about Jesus lately and gets upset that he died. It's sweet but a little odd to me since it just seems like lately this has bothered him. I am not sure if he had a Primary lesson about it or what. The other night he just started bawling over the fact that Jesus had to die, it was so sweet yet so sad all at the same time. We try to explain that he lives in our hearts and can always be with us, but of course that kind of reasoning goes completely over a 4 year old's head. The next day after he was crying, the sky was beautiful, blue and there were no clouds. We were driving along and Rex suddenly got really concerned that there were no clouds. I couldn't figure out why until he said, "Mom if there are no clouds where is Jesus living?" So sweet he thinks he lives on a cloud! I explained that Jesus is far above the clouds, but he searched until he finally found one little cloud and decided that's where Jesus is. I guess seeing a cloud makes more sense than imagining where Jesus is.

Tonight as I was putting Rex down for bed he suddenly hugged me and said, "Mom, I want to marry you." This isn't the first time he has said that, so it wasn't new but it tugs at my heart every time! I told him again that I can't marry him because I am married to Daddy and it's illegal to marry your child! He didn't like that answer and said, "Well, who am I supposed to marry than!" I told him he would find some sweet, nice kind girl when he was an adult to marry, but he didn't like that answer either. "Mom, what 4 year old girls can I marry?" Oh boy! My 4 year old already wants to get married!

And last, we are going to start trying for another baby soon and we have talked to the kids a little bit about it. I have asked them if they want a baby brother or a sister and both of them want a sister. Mark thinks I have brainwashed them, but honestly I haven't! However, Rex doesn't want to just have one baby sister, he wants to have two at a time!! Here's to hoping that wish doesn't come true!

I love my Rex.

The beautiful Sawtooth mountains

We decided to meet my mom and Dave up in the Sawtooth's last weekend for a little camping trip. They scored all this amazing camping equipment for $60 since Dave works at Sportsman's Warehouse and they wanted to try it out. Last time we went camping a couple weeks ago my kids did great so I was excited. Unfortunately a cold front moved in the day we left so we knew it would be cold and we packed LOTS of blankets. It was cold, but we still had fun hiking and exploring and of course fishing.
Some of the highlights of the trip were huddling around the campfire so as not to freeze, the boys going potty in Grandma's little portable toilet, seeing deer right next to our campsite every morning and night, watching daddy catch fish and exploring Stanley Lake and finding a toad, a dragonfly and a snake! My boys had a blast even though Sam didn't sleep well because he was all stuffed up. It definitely put me in the mood to go again soon before the summer is over! We love camping!
Hike at Pettit Lake

Isn't it gorgeous!

Abby doing what labs do best at Pettit Lake, she was so happy!

Poor Dave was so tired, what we thought was a half mile hike turned out to be 1.2 miles!

Hmmm, smores!

This kid snitched so much chocolate it was ridiculous!

The deer that came to our campsite every night and morning

Stanley Lake

getting a little artistic

The toad we saw at Stanley Lake, the kids were in heaven there!

Further evidence of the bug whisperer, I love the detail!

Doing a little dance I guess?

Handsome yet very tired little boy

The bug whisperer

That is Rex's new nickname. Here is the evidence. Tonight's FHE was ended with the capturing of a praying mantis.

I once heard that female praying mantis bite their lovers heads off after they impregnate them, I wonder if that is true?

Do you like Abby's new haircut? I don't. Mark does. He shaved her.

Funny pictures

Mark was Home teaching yesterday and I guess Rex missed him because he decided to dress in his clothes. I thought it was cute so I bribed him to take pictures.

Rex loves to make forts in our office and today this is how I found Abby, enjoying her view of the street, being lazy and laying on the fort. It was so cute I had to capture it.

Decorating

I have been so motivated to decorate lately. Funny it happened 2 1/2 years after we moved in. Better late than never though.
This is my first project completely done. The half bath, it was painted with the free Glidden quart I got through the mail. Of course I had to buy new towels to go with it! My bedroom is painted, I just need to hang something and then I will show that. My bathroom is getting painted this rainy weekend and I bought the boys their bedding, now we just have to buy them bunkbeds and paint their room and I will be done! Yay for a decorating kick!

Island Park

This is the one my mom has been waiting for and bugging me to post so here ya go mom! Do I get a comment from you now? :)
Island Park, oh how I love thee. Seriously, one of the greatest places on earth. This was the last leg of our trip and capped it off wonderfully. I had a couple of firsts this time even though I have been there a million times. I saw my first Yellowstone IMAX, (I know crazy that I have never done that!) and we visited Wade Lake about 45 minutes away in Montana. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Probably the prettiest little lake I have been to. The kids had an absolute blast playing in the water, riding in the canoes and catching Crawdads. Sunday I had a 3 hour nap, another one of my favorite things to do there and we took a great little hike on the Coffee pot trail. So pretty. My spirits and mind were rejuvenated and I was ready to tackle the rest of the summer. Thanks mom and Dave and Uncle Steve and Aunt Michelle for letting us come and stay again!

Can you see the tetons in the background?
