California- Goleta beach

Hopefully I can finally finish the California posts...
Wednesday we headed up to Santa Barbara and were fortunate to have two sunny days when we got there! We decided to head to Goleta beach on Thursday to take advantage of the sunny day. It was much warmer than our last beach adventure but still too chilly for me to get in the water. I am a wimp and will only get in if it's at least 85 degrees.
The boys had a great time and I had a great time watching them.

You wanted a picture of my pregnant swimsuit body, right? (please note sarcasm) Be lucky it wasn't a behind shot, then you would have seen all the cottage cheese...

We found a dead jellyfish on the beach. It was cool yet disgusting at the same time. I didn't realize they were so thick.

Boys... do girls get this dirty?

Funny sayings

My computer is getting the DVD player fixed right now so I don't have my pictures available. For that reason I am interrupting the California trip stuff for some funny sayings courtesy of Sam. Thanks Jess for giving me the idea!
In Island Park this was a conversation while we were at the lake one day:

Me: "Sam, say cheese!"
Sam: ignoring me
Me: "Sam look at the camera and say cheese!"
Sam: "Look at the camera and say cheese!" as he looks at the camera

Today in the car:

Sam: "Mommy why don't we drink wine?"
Me: "How do you know about wine?"
Sam: "Just cause I do"
Me: "Well we don't drink wine because the prophets have told us not to"
Sam: "How come some people drink wine?"
Me: "Because not everyone believes the same thing we do so some people don't think it's a big deal. Some people drink way too much wine and it makes them do crazy things and not think straight."
Sam: "Well I would only drink a little..."

Oh boy...

California-Disneyland!

On Tuesday we went to Disneyland. Grandpa John came down and we took Emily since it was her birthday the next day. Disneyland is always fun but I think my kids were at a really good age this year. We had a blast! It was much more crowded than it usually is when we come, we have never been during the summer before, but we still had fun. Unfortunately this made for standing in a lot of lines but we got to do all the rides we really wanted to. I couldn't do any of the fun rides anyway because of the little bambino in my belly so it was all good!

Not sure what was so funny here but it apparently was...

BUZZ ride!! I totally killed everyone's score by the way.

I LOVE Sam's face in this! This is the only princess we could find that you didn't have to stand in line for 45 minutes to meet so we got a picture with her. I don't even know who she is?

Rex loves the meager little petting zoo

We met up for dinner at Downtown Disney with my good ol high school friend Jessica who just moved to So. Cal. It was so good to see her! Her kids are super cute and we got to eat and then her, I, Sam and her kids hung out while the rest went on the Indian Jones ride. It was some GOOD TIMES! Thanks again Jess!

California Part 1

After a 14 1/2 hour drive on Saturday we were happy to have a good night sleep and a Sunday in order to relax and recover from the drive. We stayed at Mark's brother John and his wife Tracy's big beautiful home in Moorpark. It was great because basically the kids were either upstairs or outside playing with their cousins the whole time! Very little entertaining involved. John and Tracy are amazing hosts and we ate wonderful food, including her amazing homemade bread and had lots of fun. Unfortunately I don't think I took any pictures at their house. :( Monday we decided to head to the beach. It was beautiful and sunny in Moorpark. About 5 miles from the beach it went from sunny to this:

Such is the coast in California. The adults were freezing, wrapped in blankets but that didn't stop the kids. They had a blast playing even though they were purple and shaking the whole time! We did get to see a school of dolphin playing a little ways off the shore for quite some time, it was awesome.
The twinners Sam and Blake

Emily was hilarious. You can tell she loves the beach.

Cold Mark with his cheesy smile

All running from the wave except brave little Emily

This picture cracks me up! Johnny is bugging the little ones and Blake's face is awesome!

Getting lotioned up after bravely taking the shirt off.

Mark thought I was mean, but Sam got tossed by wave and I thought he looked so cute all soaking wet and crying.

Catch up

I have a few things I have to document before I make everyone suffer through the MILLION pictures I took in California.
First off Rex's preschool graduation. It was pretty stinking cute. He did a great job and loved preschool. He did amazing on all his end of year testing and the only thing his teacher said he needs to work on is listening. Yep, could of told her that. That is our biggest struggle at home as well. This kid is just so full of energy, life and his imagination that he doesn't focus enough to listen and follow directions most the time. His teacher Miss Denise told me she could see him making the next Star Wars movie. I never would of thought. It's amazing what those that work with your kids notice. We are very proud of him.

Mark loves to make pancakes for the boys on weekend mornings. So for Father's Day this year, the boys got him Star Wars pancake molds! They are super cool and turned out really fun.

Rex did Baseball for the first time this year. He isn't super into sports although he enjoys being on a team so I wasn't sure how he would do but overall for his first year he did great. He did pretty good on hitting the ball and overall seemed to have a great experience. Besides kicking up dirt in the field instead of watching the ball and trying to tackle anyone who got the ball, he did really well and we are proud of him.

Phew, all caught up. That was the extremely condensed version but hey I did it! :)
