I promised pictures of my decorating awhile back so I am now delivering! I actually finished my room and bathroom long before Rex's room, but it's rarely clean enough to take a picture so I finally got one tonight. Sad, I know. I love how they turned out and especially love my blue bathroom. It's so serene, perfect for wintertime baths.
Jessica did an awesome job on my vinyl board, I love it!
The picture that inspired the blue in the bathroom.
Just realized I totally didn't straighten the towels, but you get the idea!

My poor little Sam
Sam woke up Saturday morning like this.
I thought it was a rash but after checking out our Pediatrician's website and looking at pictures I now realize it is hives! Poor kid. I haven't been able to figure out what triggered it, but I am washing all his bedding with a different detergent to see if that helps. I feel so bad for him, it just looks miserable.

This kid is cracking me up lately!
Mark insisted I record this one on the blog, since this is the only place I record things. I failed journal writing. But I can't forget this cute exchange because it's one of those times that you feel like just maybe you are teaching your child something worthwhile.
Last night after story and tucking in, I asked Rex to say his prayers. He whispered something I couldn't hear and I asked him again to say his prayers.
Rex: I did, I did it really quietly.
Me: oh, ok...
Rex: Can Heavenly Father hear me when I am really quiet?
Me: Yep he can hear you and he even knows what you are thinking.
Rex: How? Does he have huge giant ears?
Me: Well not exactly, he is God so he knows and hears everything.
Rex: Does God ever get tired?
Me: Nope I don't think so, he's God, he is all powerful and all knowing.
Rex: Let's ask Uncle David
Apparently he doesn't believe me!
I love my inquisitive little Rex.

Wednesday
Rex decided he wanted salad for a snack today. I was not one to argue with him. In fact I should of joined him. Instead I chose cake. Chocolate is good for a hormonal soul.
I think Sam has grown out of his naps. He only takes them every now and then. I am not to excited about this prospect, but I do have to look on the bright side. He still stays in his crib quietly reading or playing for at least an hour. This is how I found him today.

Birds and the Bees
We have a few horse pastures by our house and we pass them every day. One of the pastures has two baby horses that seem like they have been little for a long time. I was commenting on this to Mark, which prompted a question from Rex.
Rex: Where do baby horses come from?
Mark: Mama horses, like a baby is in a mommies tummy
Rex: Well then how does the baby horse get out?
Mark paused and looked at me and me, never having been accused of not sharing enough information says...
Me: The mama horses vagina
Rex: (mumbling quietly in back seat) That's gross.
Mark: Yes it is
Post-edit:
Well apparently most people aren't as open/demented as me and don't think animals giving birth is very cool. So in order to please my readers I removed the horse giving birth picture and added a more reader friendly version. Hope you are all happy now!

Been busy...
Picking these off our tree
Making this plus dried fruit and leather and pear and applesauce
And painting this
obviously still need bunkbeds, a new dresser and new curtains but I am really happy with the result.
Now I will be busy putting my house back together from the result of above projects!

Season 7
So You Think You Can Dance is probably my favorite show, at least one of my favorites! Mark and I love watching it in the Summer, but this year they are having Season 7 in the Fall! I am so excited, it starts this week. So in honor of that, Ellen had last seasons 10 finalists on and danced with them! I LOVE it! Secretly I just wish I could dance, because I can't... at all. Thanks Kellie for the inspiration!

Labor Day
We had to get one last camping trip in before the end of the season, so we decided to head up north for Labor Day. I used to go to McCall when I was young for family reunions and have many fond memories. Sadly, in the three years since we moved to Boise, we haven't been up there at all! Mark and the boys had never been there. I knew McCall would be crazy over Labor Day so I reserved a campground about 20 minutes away. It was a nice area but ended up not being in the gorgeous area of Cascade and McCall. It was still pretty, but next time we will definitely go to one of the other areas. We had a great time though and enjoyed the mama and baby deer in our campsite the first night. Unfortunately the 2nd night we had the poster children for White trash right next to us, so we had to endure loud, foul language all night. It's easy to forget people like that exist living in my little bubble, but I was strongly reminded with these people! Other than that we had a great time.
On Sunday we spent the day exploring McCall and Cascade. McCall was beautiful but super crowded since it was Labor Day weekend. On the way home we decided to go off the highway and explore around the west side of Cascade Lake. This is where Tamarack Ski Resort is and since we have heard so much about it since it went Bankrupt last year, we decided to check it out. We fell in love! Cascade Lake is absolutely gorgeous and the area over there is quiet, beautiful and full of wildlife. Tamarack resort was absolutely gorgeous, with big beautiful vacation homes all over. If we had the money I would snatch one of these up in a heartbeat! The prices are amazing right now because the resort is bank owned and the area is still so absolutely gorgeous, even with no operating ski resort. We explored the lake, the campgrounds, the trails and even saw some cranes and a golden eagle! We spent about 3 hours driving along this side of the lake and exploring. Of course the boys had to get out and play on the beach. Next time we go camping, this is definitely where we will go. Breathtaking!

To be a child again...
I just love imaginations in children. Sam had his friend Levi over today. These two are really like two peas in the pod. Both little, both talk super well for their age and both love playing with princess toys! Sadly, our house does not have princess toys so instead they filled their time with pretend games. My bed became a car. Apparently the scenery was good because their car ride lasted a good 15 minutes as I got some precious cleaning time in.
Aren't they cute? Even if Sam's head looks abnormally large next to Levi's!

Night at the zoo
I am really glad the City of Boise isn't cutting back during this recession. Why? Because I don't pay taxes for Boise and because they had the company picnic at the zoo! Free admission, free food, free dessert. What more could you ask for?!
Classic irritated Rex face. How dare we make him eat before he got to play!
When the lady asked Sam what he wanted painted on his face, I gave him a few suggestions. Ya know, ball, bug... He ignored me and decided on a book. It was pretty hilarious, he was dead set on having a book. She accomodated. Excuse the artist's cleavage.
Rex aka the bug whisperer chose a spider.

1st day of Preschool
I did a first day of Preschool post last year. You can find it here. Notice Rex is dressed in his nice clothes, hair perfectly combed, ready and on time to take by the door pictures. For our 2nd year of Preschool we weren't so lucky...
The morning started off good, I got up was in the shower when Rex appeared. He dressed himself and had his backpack on ready to go. It was 7:15. School starts at 9:00. So after convincing him that he needed to actually eat some breakfast and yes he had time to do that, I finished my shower.
Now I had big plans for what he was going to wear to school on his first day, gotta look good for the pictures right? But somehow after all the work he put in, I just couldn't burst his bubble and make him change from the interesting ensemble he put himself into.
As for getting a picture in front of the door... well since we were 10 minutes late for school, that had to wait until after school. His hair is sticking up, his clothes are dirty and he has frosting from his gingerbread man he made at school all over his face. Probably a better representation of what he looks like on an every day basis anyway.
