We have all had gunk the last 3 weeks, but unfortunately for Sam, he got it twice. He is not feeling well today so he got to watch a movie snuggled in mommy's bed. Poor little guy. He is just so stinking cute, even sick!

Why?
Why is it that Rex can recite this to me in the car:
(From the Little Rascals)
"Dear Darla.
I hate your stinking guts!
You make me vomit!
You are scum between my toes.
Love, Alfalfa"
But when asked to sing "I am a Child of God" he is at a loss?
Do you think our priorities are a little screwy or is my child just naturally attracted to naughty words?

My kids
Now that I am feeling really overexposed after my last post, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to post about my kids! We are really starting to work on teaching them the gospel, now that Rex is really starting to comprehend things. The boys and I went to McDonald's the other night because Mark had to work late. On the way we passed the LDS church we pass almost every day. Sam calls it the temple. I always explain that no it is a church so he calls it a temple church. Since we were going to have a FHE on the angel Moroni later that night, I used this opportunity to explain that on temples there is a statue on the steeple and on church's there isn't. I told them that Moroni was a prophet in the Book of Mormon. I asked Rex if he knew any other prophets. After thinking for a minute he said, "Joseph Smith!" I was impressed and asked him how he knew that and this is what he said, "Jesus told me". So sweet and so simple.
My good friend just happens to be the music leader for Jr. Primary and nursery. Rex loves to be involved in the music, but he doesn't sing. Sam on the other hand LOVES to sing! When she walks into nursery he says, "Hi, Paige!" She said he always sings and even held her hand for part of the time on Sunday. I love my boys and I love the gospel and am so grateful that they love it as well.
And this post is like one huge run-on sentence! Sorry about that!

The secret to a happy wife
A woman really likes a nice, clean coop to roost in
A woman also loves good food and a treat
A woman needs DAILY love and encouragement
A woman needs someone she can count on regularly
A woman needs praise for a job well done and appreciated
A woman needs her man to be genuine—it’s a relationship not a “work chart” job
So true, so true.

Abby's multiple personalities
I once had a boyfriend who's mom had multiple personalities, it was stressful. I thought when we broke up that would be my last encounter with multiple personalities... I was wrong. Abby has exactly two personalities;
Adorably cute and sweet
and
Impossibly obnoxious and annoying.
Both of these are witnessed daily. This is how they were witnessed today.
Rex is sick with a nasty sinus infection that has rendered him couch and bed bound. I was busy doing something in the wee hours of the morning (since it makes it hard for him to sleep at night) when I came back into the family room to see this.
Apparently Abby was as concerned about Rex as we were. It was so sweet.
Last night however, she showed her obnoxious side. I had put Rex to bed after the 1st of many wakings and was trying to finish up some dishes before I hit the sack myself. I heard her chewing on what I thought was a toy. Upon further examination after the dishes were done, I realized it was my shoes that I had carelessly just thrown into my room. Note to self: don't ever leave shoes out, otherwise evil Abby will show her face.

Daddy timeout
Daddy sent himself to time out this evening. He said a bad word. He called Sam a punk for spilling his food all over himself on purpose. Rex was quick to inform him that punk was not a nice word and daddy agreed and went to time out.
Mommy thought it was hilarious.
Sam did too.
As did Rex.
Then in true Rex fashion he couldn't help but make a silly face.
By then daddy started to think it was pretty funny.

Chore chart
Rex has been asking to do chores lately and who am I to say no?! I wasn't super excited about it because it usually just means more work for me, but he really wanted to earn a new Planet Hero toy so I decided to make a chore chart. It's very basic since he is only 4, but he is loving it and asks me all day long if he can do chores and if he has earned his toy yet. I keep telling him it's going to take a lot of chores to earn it but he still asks all the time. Here he is with his first chore chart.

Best dinner ever!
YUM, YUM, YUM!! I found this recipe by Rachel Ray awhile back and my family has loved it! It's so good and so easy!
Peasant Pasta
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan
1/2 pound hot Italian sausage, available in bulk at butcher counter or, 2 links, casings removed
1 pound sweet Italian sausage, available in bulk at butcher counter or, 4 links, casings removed
3 to 4 cloves garlic, chopped, optional
1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup heavy cream
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 cup frozen green peas
24 leaves fresh basil, torn or thinly sliced
1 pound penne rigate pasta, cooked to al dente
Grated Italian cheese, for passing
Heat a large, deep skillet over medium high heat. Add extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan. Add sausage meat. Crumble sausage meat as it browns. Add chopped garlic to the pan. When all of the crumbles have browned evenly, deglaze the pan drippings using chicken or vegetable broth. Stir in crushed tomatoes and bring the sauce up to a bubble, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Stir cream into your sauce, this will blush the color and cut the acidity of the tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Stir peas and basil into your sauce to combine. Toss hot drained penne rigate in pan with the sauce, then transfer pasta to serving bowl.
Well tonight I decided to make breadsticks from scratch. I have never tried this before but saw a recipe on this woman's blog so I gave it a shot. The recipe can be found here. These breadsticks are TOO DIE FOR! Seriously tonight I could have fed myself into an oblivion...

Diary of a tantrum in timeout
This happened in under one minute...
Not happy
hitting some imaginary object
Mom, why do you do this to me
Hey mom why you laughing, this is serious
I guess I can't win
P.S. Do you think timeouts are as effective when mom is taking pictures and laughing at you?

Follow up to the pee post
I figured I would follow up the pee post with a picture of my cute little girl snuggling. She is so worth it. She was a perfect angel yesterday, had no accidents and has even almost perfected "sit". She is adorable in these pictures. Excuse her mother, I just got out of a long, hot bath and my pores show it!

Lately my life can be summed up in one word: Pee
I hate the smell of pee. I have a very sensitive nose and pee is one of those smells that makes my stomach turn. Lately, I feel like all I do is clean up pee. I change massive, pee filled diapers on Sam. I clean the bathroom daily because my 4 year old doesn't pay attention when he pees and ends up peeing on the toilet, the floor and even himself sometimes. Now I have a puppy and anyone who has had a puppy knows that potty training is hard and accidents are bound to happen. Abby is doing pretty well, but I still find myself cleaning up pee multiple times a day. I am getting obsessed about smelling pee, I find myself smelling it in places where I know it isn't possible. I notice that I am constantly down on the carpet sniffing, to make sure I haven't missed anything. I walk in the house after running errands and immediately sniff to see if I detect any odor. I notice a wet spot on the couch and immediately freak out thinking the dog peed, only to find out Rex spilled water. I am tired of PEE!!!!!!!!!!!! The sad thing is, knowing that we aren't done having kids yet, cleaning up pee is probably something I will be doing for a long time. There is no end in sight.
THESE
PLUS THIS
EQUAL LOTS OF THIS

You like dark?
I am the type of person that one day just decides to change my haircolor and I do it. Good thing I am a hairdresser I guess. I got tired of weaving my blond all the time, so I went brown. It went a little darker than I expected because my bleached pieces just sucked up the color, but after lightening it a bit I think I like it. What do you think?

dancing Sam
I have some funny videos I want to share of Sam. Both my kids love to dance, they must get it from their dad. The other night Ethan and ViBeka were over playing with Abby and Sam was in a dancing mood. We have this Easter egg thing that shakes all around and sings "Wooly Booly, Happy Easter". So Sam was "wooly boolying", it was pretty cute!
The white stuff on his face is cream because he has some Eczema.
Then today in the car this punk rock song came on and he decided to rock out, so of course I had to video it with my phone. This was at a stoplight, don't worry mom!

Planet Kid
Friday was cold and windy. So in order to get the boys out of the house and exercised we decided to head over to Planet Kid, an indoor playground. I had never been there but heard it is awesome. It's a little pricey, but is worth it every now and then. The boys loved it and it tired Grandma and I out! Here are some pictures of their adventures. I only got a couple of Rex because I barely saw him the whole time, he never stopped!
